Galen Celebrates Grand Opening of Houston Campus

We recently hosted a grand opening event at our new campus, located at 11210 Equity Drive, Houston, TX 77041.

The grand opening not only marked the inauguration of the new campus but also provided an opportunity for attendees to explore the college and experience firsthand the simulated lab demonstrations that are a cornerstone of Galen’s approach to quality nursing education.

A large crowd of guests were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speakers included Mark Vogt, CEO, Galen College of Nursing; Victoria Lynn Coyle, Houston Campus Dean; Troy Villareal, President, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division; and Michelle Bookout, Chief Nurse Executive, HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division.

“At Galen, our mission has always focused on expanding access to nursing education and welcoming new individuals into the profession,” Vogt said. “Speaking with students today about their journeys has been inspiring, and I am thrilled that this campus was created specifically for them. The compassionate care they will provide as nurses will support quality care in this community and beyond.”

Spanning over 72,000 square feet, the Houston campus is one of the area’s most unique educational facilities dedicated solely to nursing. Focusing on developing clinical judgment and reasoning, Galen’s nursing degree programs are designed to prepare nursing students to enter the workforce with confidence, preparedness, and compassion.

“We are excited to have Galen College of Nursing in the Houston area as part of HCA Healthcare,” Villareal said. “We have witnessed the outstanding work Galen is doing to address the nursing shortage by bringing new professionals into the workforce and look forward to working together to provide numerous opportunities for students and nurses to learn, grow, and enjoy a rewarding career.”

The campus features modern clinical learning laboratories equipped with patient-simulation mannequins. Under the supervision of experienced professional nurse educators, students will have the opportunity to practice fundamental patient care skills, both individually and in groups, in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

“Houston is a rapidly growing area with a high demand for healthcare services,” Bookout said. “We are honored to partner with Galen College of Nursing and welcome them into our HCA Healthcare family here.”
